Behind the scenes

This film follows Room 8's production crew of Che and Izack as they work behind the scenes to help produce each film. They climbed ladders, tables and benches to get the best camera angles possible. Take a look at the fun they had causing trouble.

Earthquake

What do you do when a earthquake hits your school> Follow the adventure of Ben, Tali, Sifa, Siu and Bullard as they tackle an earthquake head on.

Harry Potter

Room's film "Harry Potter" is a story of Glen Taylor's School transition into it's first year with Manakalani with a Harry Potter twist. Starring Sophie, May and Fai'ana, the film features stunning visual effects accompanied with a great story line.

The Storm

The Storm stars Rottpon, Lily, Tracey, Wint, Sar Yar Chan and Ngwe Sin in the middle of a nasty thunder storm. Their film was inspired by their inquiry topic :Changing Landscapes". The film combines visual effects and sound effects to bring the storm to life.

Floor is Lava

Floor is Lava features Room 8's actors and actresses: Camden, Paris, Catherine, Gabriealla and Tajon. Their film was inspired by term 3's inquiry topic "Our changing landscape" and by the viral video "Floor is Lava". This film has a combination of visual effects, green screen and great acting.

Movie Making

Room 8's Movie Making

In Room 8 we have started creating our movies for the Manaiakalani Film Festival. Over the next few weeks we will be learning how to use green screen in different ways to add our special effects to our movie. I (Mr Shanks) have been taking my editing skills from high school and new skills learnt to bring the students ideas to life. The different ways will be using green screen will to change our background, make students appear and disappear, to change the roof into a thunder storm, and changing the ground to lava. We are looking forward to sharing our videos at Glen Taylor's Film Festival and are hoping that our videos will be selected for the Manaiakalani Film Festival at Sylvia Park

Buddy Class!

Buddy Class

Room 8 and Room 4 have joined forces to become buddy classes. Over the term we will look at learning together, sharing together and playing together. On Friday with our buddy class we paired up and played a few different sports. Thanks for having us Room 4!

Last Monday through to Thursday Room 8 only had one absence and nobody late to class. This resulted in the class winning the first attendance trophy for the term. Keep up the awesome attendance Room 8!

In Room 8 we have been enjoying the creativity and challenges that come with Google Art. Thanks to our Cybersmart learning, we have been discovering different ways to present our learning and explore our creativity using Google Art. The following videos are of room 8 students taking the skills they have learnt from Cyber Smart like key board shortcuts, resizing, use of polylines, rotating and much more, to creative their images.

In room 8 we have been learning how to be a positive student when working in groups. With the help of Miss Sadgrove, we came up with up with our expectations and summarised it into an acrostic poem. Mr Shanks then took this acrostic poem and turned it into a rap/song. Hope you enjoy!
